Which network for what?

  • (W)LAN: as a closed SSID, e.g. for stores with sensitive (payment) processes; as an open SSID, e.g. for guest WLAN, travel centers or digital signage
  • Private 5G: For critical infrastructure and data-intensive services; unaffected by the utilization of the Wi-Fi network. Higher transmission power and higher building penetration than WLAN, designed for extremely high device density.
  • LoRa: For services with low data consumption and higher latency tolerance, mostly for sensors; extremely low energy consumption
