LORAWAN & SENSOR TECHNOLOGY FOR SMART BUILDINGS WITH ADUNO® CAMPUS

Hilden, 12/03/2026

With aduno® Campus, ituma implemented an intelligent system for managing heat, humidity, and indoor climate—based on networked sensor technology—for a housing association in the Wetterau district, Hessen, and for Zukunftsschulen Lippstadt GmbH. Through the targeted collection, analysis, and control of sensor data, both the indoor climate and energy consumption can be optimized according to specific needs.

As part of these projects, a scalable LoRaWAN-based system was implemented to enable flexible control across tenants, properties, and individual rooms. Temperature, humidity, and air quality are continuously monitored and analyzed to manage heating and indoor climate according to actual demand. Intelligent alarm mechanisms provide targeted notifications to relevant personnel based on priority levels.
This offers clear advantages for clients: Unnecessary heating of unoccupied rooms is eliminated, resulting in a sustainable reduction of energy consumption, CO₂ emissions, and operating costs. Simultaneously—particularly in spaces with fluctuating occupancy, such as classrooms—the continuous monitoring of indoor CO₂ levels enables demand-driven control of ventilation and the indoor climate. Monitoring temperature and humidity helps ensure a healthy and comfortable indoor environment for the benefit of the occupants. Furthermore, in unoccupied or rarely used rooms, critical humidity levels can be detected, thereby effectively preventing mold formation. Additionally, occupancy sensors are planned to enable even more precise monitoring and management of room usage.
